New Peel Transforms iPod Touch Into An iPhone
Apple lovers are willing to invest their entire paychecks if it means that they will be able to get the latest products. With that said, the iPod Touch 8gb can now magically transform itself into a pseudo iPhone by way of a ‘peel.’ That isn’t exactly how the technology works, but in a nutshell, the Apple Peel 520 is more like hardware than software. When an iPad owner places the peel onto their device, they have the option of sending text messages as well as making and receiving phone calls. The really good news is that iPod owners can use their VOIP service plan to make and receive these phone calls. Previous versions of peels made it so that users would have to purchase a separate service plan that started at around $40 a month.
For iPod owners that aren’t willing to shell out a lot of money for the iPhone 4, this peel will serve as a way to get with the times without going broke. The product’s developer, Yosion, is already hard at work on updated versions that will be compatible with every version of the iPod. Some iPod owners still carry around devices that were made in the early part of the new millennium, so there is a good chance that they will be able to take advantage of this technology somewhere down the line. So far, Yosion has not released information on sales, which makes it difficult to gauge just how popular these peels are. The company may be able to find an audience with teen users without the funds to invest in expensive electronics. As Yosion begins to invest into advertising, more people will become aware of peels. A few different Apple products are able to work with peels, but the iPod seems to be the easiest one to use.
